Could you please give us a little bit information about the inspirations behind your FTHR project and how long have you had been working on it? How did you come up with the idea? It looks really beautiful!

Thank you! I started this piece as a sketch at the beginning of the year, and I decided to finish it this March. The finalizing process took about a week, and its time was shared with other drawings and studies.
I am very influenced by the works and artists of the fine arts, I really like realism as well as the aesthetics of traditional painting, acrylic, oil. And with this drawing, it was no different. I wanted to do a good rendering that at the same time would have movement and brush strokes. The model’s features were based on a fashion photograph. I was also inspired by the movement of the fire and I tried to use lively colors that would match its movement.

Do you already know what your next large project will be? Could you please tell us a couple of words about it?

I really like literature, and in the last months I have been collecting characters and passages of books that I like in order to recreate them using my painting technique. It will be a challenge and a twist in my work, because I will have to approach aspects of painting that are different from the ones I usually use. This is already a great project.

Would you recommend emerging digital painters to invest more of their time into working on personal projects? Why or why not?

Absolutely, I believe that by investing in personal projects the chances of being a better professional are much higher than by only fulfilling the production demands of the market. It is a great way to analyse what you can improve, change or experiment, what you are good at and what you are not... That doesn’t happen when you are working under some contracts and short deadlines (dealines!!), in which the product may have had its characteristics previously defined.

Lastly, how do you think the internet is changing the world of art?

It has changed it for the better, we are able to know amazing artists who would be rather difficult to know without the Internet, as well as share experiences and talk about art with artists from all over the world. I am very grateful to the artistic community that has been formed thanks to the Internet and I hope that one day I will be able to reciprocate the knowledge they provide me with even to these days.
