Amazing work Kouji Oshiro! Can you tell us something about yourself so we could get to know you better?

Thanks, Ivy. My name is Hector Kouji Oshiro Kochi and I am 33 years old. I live in Lima, Perú. I hold a bachellors degree in Arts with a majoring in graphic design from The Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. I have worked as a graphic designer in a news TV station since 2005. I have been performing digital arts as a hobby and a way of learning new styles of image creation.

What made you pursue digital design? Was this a childhood dream?

Yes, I have always been into drawing, appreciating all kinds of visual arts and everything related to computers. I lovingly remember Logo Writer was the first computer software I used for making graphics, animations and simple games. As a result of gaining experience with that program I made up my mind in studying graphic design at the faculty of arts of Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.

What usually inspires you to create?

I specially feel inspired and motivated by different sources like science fiction and anime movies, manga, western comics and outstanding artworks from other artists, so that is the reason, I own a wide array of inspiring videos and images which I contemplate them carefully prior to getting involved in the creation process. Besides that, a peaceful and quiet environment paves the way to getting the best out of me.

How have you evolved as an artist since you first started?

At the beginning, I used to draw and copy all the images I liked, and when I began to study at the univesity I learned various concepts about arts and get involved with painting, sculpture, carving, drawing, black and white photography and graphic design techniques. After landing a position as a graphic designer at a TV station, technology, communications, and electronics had a significant impact on my professional development and benefited my digital artistry.

What medium/materials do you most enjoy working with?

I have worked with a lot of medium and materials in my works and computers is the one I like to work with the most.
