Next, activate the Transform tool (Ctrl/Cmd + T) once again and then resize the "woman" as shown on the image below:

Step 27

Now, let's adjust the "woman's" brightness/contrast, so go to Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast and input the following:

  • Brightness: -67
  • Contrast: -35
  • Use Legacy: Uncheck

We'll now reduce the saturation of the "woman" to make her blend well with the rest of the images. To start, go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation and then input the following:

  • Edit: Master
  • Hue: 0
  • Saturation: -40
  • Lightness: 0

Step 28

Next, we'll need to lighten some parts of the "woman". To do that, activate the Dodge tool (O).

Once activated, input the following settings for it:

  • Brush size: 40px
  • Hardnesss: 0%
  • Range: Midtones
  • Exposure: 25%

Now, let's zoom in to the "woman" by pressing Ctrl/Cmd + Z and left-clicking on the image. Once you have a good zoom level for the "woman", start Dodging.

The result of that should be like this:

Now, select all the layers that we've created on this step and group them (Ctrl/Cmd + G). Name this group to "woman".

Step 29 - Add the textures

Now we will be adding the textures to give the image a dark and brooding feel to enhance the viewer's feelings towards the image. To start, open the texture "Grunge texture 4" by darkrose42-stock. Once open, activate the Move tool (V) and drag it to our canvas.

Position it as shown below:

Now, activate the Transform tool (Ctrl/Cmd + T) and resize it as shown below:

Step 30

Next, let's adjust the Blending mode and Opacity of this texture.

  • Blending mode: Multiply
  • Opacity: 100%

Note: Click on the drop-down button beside the "Normal" on the layer window and then click on "Multiply".

Next, open the texture "Texture 119" by Sirius-sdz. Once open, activate the Move tool (V) and drag it to our canvas.

Resize it then to the size shown below:

Step 31

After that, change the Blending mode and Opacity to the following:

  • Blending mode: Soft Light
  • Opacity: 100%

Step 32

Next, open the texture "Old paper 33 stock" by ofruin-stock. Once open, activate the Move tool (V) and drag this to our canvas.

Next, transform it (Ctrl/Cmd + T) as shown on the image below:

Now, change the Blending mode and Opacity to the following:

  • Blending Mode: Soft Light
  • Opacity: 30%

The result:

Group all these textures (Ctrl/Cmd + G) and name this group to "Textures".

Step 34 - Enhance the Color

Now, for the final process, we will be enhancing the colors and exposure of our image. To start, create a Solid Color adjustment layer from the "Create New Fill/Adjustment layer button".

Click that and then choose "Solid Color" from the contextual menu:

Once open, input the following on the # space.

  • #: 002d42

Step 35

Change the Blending mode of this layer to the following:

  • Blending mode: Exclusion
  • Opacity: 40%
  • Fill: 70%

Next, create a Color Balance adjustment layer.

  • Color Levels: 0, 0, -15
  • Tone Balance: Midtones
  • Preserve Luminosity: Check

Step 36

Next, let's create a Photo Filter adjustment layer.

Next, let's create another Solid Color adjustment layer. This time, input the following:

  • #: 382110

Change the Blending mode and Opacity of this solid color layer to the following:

  • Blending Mode: Soft Light
  • Opacity: 40%

Next, let us create an Exposure adjustment layer.

  • Exposure: 0.39
  • Offset: 0.0176
  • Gamma Correction: 1.00
