In this tutorial we will be creating a space flare glowing text in Photoshop. You will learn how to create space flare text and apply text effects to them. You will also learn how to use layer styles and blending modes in order to bring your glowing text to the next level.Lets get started applying cool glow on your text.
So basically what will be creating is a glowing flare text effect. We will use a space scene image as a background and apply some gradients to it. Then we will be creating a multiple text layers and apply layer styles and blending modes to them.Then we will use shapes and blur to create highlight streaks. At the end we will add some visual effects to the composition and discuss possible changes in order to improve the design. You’ll need Photoshop CS2 or newer to follow this tutorial. With this we wrap up the description and lets get started.

Create a new folder. Name it “ROCK – Create a Space Flare Glowing Text”. Now open the folder and create a new folder. Name the new folder “images”.
Download the space image from the link in the description and place it in the images folder.
Open Photoshop. Go to File > New to create a new file. Set the settings as in the image below. Name the File – ROCK – Create a Space Flare Glowing Text. Then click OK.
Go to File > Save As. Make sure to save the file in the ” ROCK – Create a Space Flare Glowing Text ” folder.
Make sure you are in Photoshop. Go to File > Place.Go in the images folder,select the space environment jpg and click Place. This will place the image on the canvas.
This is how the hierarchy of the layers look like after we place the space scene image on the canvas.
Now create a new layer. Go to Layer > New > Layer.
Name the layer Background Gradient. Then press OK.
Press the G key on your keyboard to activate the Gradient Tool. Open the Gradient editor and set the colors of the gradient as in the image below. Just for the record,the color on the left is (063964) and on the right is (2cc1e6).
Drag a gradient from the bottom left to the top right corner.
Set the Blending mode for the Background Gradient to be “Soft Light”. Set the opacity to 80%
Create a new layer. Go to Layer > New > Layer ( or press CTRL+ SHIFT+N ). Name it H1 and press OK. Now press the M key on your keyboard to activate the Rectangular Marquee Tool. Make a rectangle that has 300px in width and 30px in height. Press the G key on your keyboard to activate the Gradient tool. Open the gradient editor and create a gradient as it is shown in the image below. Now drag the gradient to fill the shape.At the end press CTRL+D to deselect the shape.
Make sure you have the H1 layer selected. Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Set the Radius to be 5px and press OK.
